New Zealand born 22-year-old guitarist, producer, and composer Rupert McRae creates emotive and ambient musical compositions for visual media.
Drawing inspiration from interests of human inquiry: mindfulness and consciousness, Rupert utilises his life experiences and natural surroundings to compose heartfelt, textural ambient music, in both ethereal and dark moods. Much like his self taught musical background, his compositional process is intuitive and guided by instinctual feeling.
Rupert's sound can be described as the combination of two opposing worlds of voicings – the world of vibrant, atmospheric, supple guitar soundscapes, and the world of emotive, lo-fi, and eerie production sounds.
McRae has recently composed an ambient score for the short film ‘Tell the World We Are Dying - The Silent Suffering of Tigray.’
